I spent a beautiful fall afternoon with these adorable kids and their parents playing at the park. What a great way to enjoy the day before the snow flies. I love curls, but red curls are even better. This little guy was so cute and he really was a fiery red head. It took a while to warm up to me and my camera, but when he did he was fun, crazy and had so much energy. His sister on the other hand was the typical girl, loved the camera. The feeling was mutual, the camera loved her too!

Fall it is my favorite season. I grew up in Ontario and those leaves don’t even compare to the YELLOW ones we have here. But the warm days, with light winds and beautiful low sunlight is the same here as in Ontario. These photos remind me of Ontario and the days I spent driving down the 401 admiring the beautiful display of trees along the road. Calgary is home now and has been for a long time, I am finally beginning to accept the YELLOW as the only fall color. It is beautiful and I love the light and the YELLOW in both of these photos. The tree branches in the background look a bit like a spider web, perfect with the black and white stripe shirt!
These girls were great. Loved to pose. We could have spent at least another hour enjoying the evening. There are so many fun ones of them goofing around, and I will get to those eventually, but for now here are two that caught my eye!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! J

I met Kate a little over 7 years ago. She was one of the architects on my house. We hit it off right away. She was more than competent, but also easy going and never got tired of my endless ideas. Since then I have photographed her wedding, maternity and family photos. Kate and Justin’s wedding was memorable for many reasons. It was classy, entertaining and also very touching. Some of the guests made a surprise appearance as crazy wig wearing 60’s dancers! That is not all, Kate’s family is unbelievable. I have never come across a family that was so in love with one another. When Kate’s brother saw her for the first time in her dress he cried and I almost did too. Their speeches were straight from the heart and all about the little moments that some overlook, but they didn’t. Very inspirational.
Although Kate has kept me busy photographing her she has also kindly referred me to many of her friends. Alicia and Andy’s wedding was the most resent referral. Kate was a guest and I got carried away taking photographs of her and C her sweet little boy. I just love this first shot of Kate gently coaxing C to hug the bride while Justin is patiently waiting for the moment to happen. The rest are of Andy and Alicia, it was their wedding after all!

Some people call this an in-between. I just love this shot, the light the mood, beautiful…

I should be out taking more photographs of this sweet little girl as I write this, but it is raining. THe leaves are fabulous and the sun was shining all day until now. Crazy Calgary weather! Anyway, isn’t she gorgeous…

I love it when my customers buy a package that includes three sessions. I get to see the kids grow and change. The best part is that I get to know the families. I love chatting with my clients about life and being a parent. The worst part is that when the 3 sessions are over I am always left wanting more. I feel like I am losing touch with friends. This family is so great. We have had so many laughs over the last year. Trying to entertain these two sweet little girls. Usually we end up laughing more than the kids do. Here are a few from our session…

What a cutie! This little guy did not want to look at the camera, he was way too busy with the army men. We sure had fun coaxing him to pay attention to us. I love it how he would hide one of his eyes and peek out to see if we were still looking at him. G. the big brother is such a sweet boy, never complains, always a great sport. These boys parents are two of the nicest people I have met, with a little sarcasm mixed in too. Perfect combination don’t you think?

This one is for you Dave! Having 3 boys myself I love what this photo stands for. The older brother was constantly getting to the football before his brother. Very typical in my family too. Instead of giving up J grabbed his big brothers hands so that he would not get to the ball first, not that time at least. Survival of the fittest, something every child learns in a large family. I love it! The only thing that would be better is if the sky was blue with white fluffy clouds.
I will post more later… promises, promises…

Yesterday Erika and I spent the day with Alicia and Andrew. I must be doing something right because every time the forecast calls for rain it is a beautiful sunny day. Not only was the day beautiful the clouds were big and fluffy. Our locations were awesome, three diverse spots with so many great photo opportunities. I love the old trucks, barns and wheat fields. The real find was the sunflower field in Alberta! Alicia and Andrew were tons of fun and both looked just beautiful. See for yourself….
